6. It might be necessary for them to renounce (I have covered this word in another chapter) a person, a place or a thing. An example could be that your teenage child has a friendship that ends up hurting them. They get ignored at school, bullied or snubbed. This could be a huge trauma in your child's life. All of a sudden you notice they are crying a lot, not eating, sullen, withdrawn or angry. Their behavior changed, it's not normal. This is the time for you to take note and ask questions. When the story unravels, you can now pray with them. Their heart is hurting, they have faced rejection and that sucks! So after they forgive the person, invite the Holy Spirit to shine his light into the pain and heal their heart, it would be freeing for them to renounce this person or persons. At this point you would break all soul ties or attachments to that person.
6. Now, take authority over the spirit that has had assess to your child. It could be a spirit of fear, or rejection, or self-hatred, or bitterness, ...let the Holy Spirit lead you as you pray. But now is the time to take authority over any spirit that has held them captive. You say ‘I bind you spirit of ________ in Jesus’ name. I command you to get your hands off my child in Jesus’ name. Now you go’. You have all power and authority to order any demon to leave you, your children and your house. Use it!
7. Finally ask the Holy Spirit to fill your child with the power of his love. Speak blessing to their body, soul, spirit, mind, will and emotions. Speak scripture over them such as: “you are a disciple, you are taught of The Lord and great is your peace and your undisturbed composure. You don't have a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind!” (Isaiah 54:13 AMP and 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV)
8. Finish with a hug and tell them you love them and are so grateful for their life.
